Description
Conceived as a dedicated centre of excellence for learning and training, the Telangana State Judicial Academy is a 20-acre campus designed to serve the state's judicial officers with spaces that inspire rigour, reflection, and growth. The competition design draws from the region's rich architectural heritage — most notably through the Kakatiya Mandap at the campus epicentre, a bold stone pavilion that echoes the monumental grammar of the Kakatiyas while anchoring the campus around a shared civic identity.
The master plan unfolds with a clear hierarchy — academic blocks, residential quarters, recreational facilities, and social spaces — all threaded together by landscaped pathways, water features, and generous green cover. The architecture speaks a contemporary institutional language while remaining rooted in its Telangana context: textured stone facades, deep-shaded colonnades, and carefully framed courtyards create environments that are both dignified and deeply liveable.
Beyond the functional brief, the design makes a larger statement about what a judicial institution can feel like — deliberate, unhurried, and humane. A campus where the quality of space quietly reinforces the gravity of the vocation it serves.
The project remains a milestone for the studio — a rare and energising moment where the entire office rallied around a single design vision, submitting a cohesive competition entry that reflected the collective spirit of the team.
